Emotional Effects of Movie Theme Songs

   Composers and musicologists agree that the soundtrack in regular movies contributes in telling a story of the movies.

   It leads the viewers in specific ways, like in emotionally because it enhances and intensifies their experiences while watching the movies.

   According to studies, the effects of music has is more complex than is regularly held, and research on new genres – like pervasive drama – may contribute to enhancing our knowledge about it.

   Music can influence us and can contribute towards shaping the stories of our lives because sound affect our behavior and our moral attitudes, both while we are watching the film and also afterwards.

   According to psychologists, music played a part in how they understood their own role in the drama and it always plays on something deep within us and is therefore capable of moving us.

   Nanette Nielsen, whose academic background is musicology and philosophy said, “Even when we sit in a room all to ourselves, alone and listening, we still have our thoughts and our imagination. Music can work in powerful ways to evoke memories and ideas and thereby engage our thoughts and feelings.”  

   “It is difficult to say what it is about the soundtrack that does this. Music and sound created a certain ambiance or atmosphere, also physically; it can made viewers move more quickly, she added.

   It is an important part of a film because it sets the tone for each scene, and action even when dialogue is not present the music tells a major part of the story such as feelings for it gives someone an idea of what the character at that point and time is feeling as a part of silent film music was the catalyst of suspense, comedy, action, and horror.

   Movie theme songs can serve several objective that are either significant on the sensitive side of the movie and it can help in enhancing the story telling.
